Can you top my awkwardness?
I walk into the leasing office to discuss an issue.
One of the representatives greets me, "Good afternoon. How may I help you?"
I stand across from him and say, "I'm calling because...Oh, no. I mean I'm here because the app for the entrance door isn't working for me."
That's how you know I'm awkward! I said I was calling, when I was standing right across from the man talking to his face.
A different day, I got to work late. I clocked in and rushed straight to the classroom I was assisting in. I explained to the teacher how I had a rough morning with my alarm, traffic, and really had to go to the bathroom, but didn't want to feel like I wasn't helping her and the students.
She asked, "Well, did you tell Michelle? She's usually understanding and will give you five minutes to settle in."
Michelle? That name sounded familiar. "Who?" I asked. "Michelle?"
She looked at me like something was wrong with me. Like, really?
And that's when it clicked! Michelle was 1 out of the 3 ladies at the front desk that we communicate with every morning. Due to my scattered brain, I had forgotten she existed.
That's how you know I'm awkward!
And finally, I was at a party. I knew probably seventy percent of the people there.
My friend Lea had gotten a few drinks for those that didn't have any. I was one of them. She handed me the cup as she was telling me and two others about her new cat interacting with her other pet. I went to take a sip and it dribbled down my chin and onto my shirt.
I tried to play it cool by taking another sip and using my other hand to wipe my chin and neck area.
That's how you know I'm awkward! I struggle with catching up with friends I haven't seen in a while because I'm nervous to be socializing again. So, I try to act normal by taking a sip and I rush the cup to my lips, spilling the drink and making myself more awkward.
Can you top my awkwardness?
