Falling In Love

She texts back, "You're so sweet. I appreciate you, babe."

He replies, "I love you. Don't you forget it."

Heat rushes through her body and her heart races. They've said 'I love you' plenty of times, but it's a year into the relationship and things feel different. Things feel more real. Last week they came back from her first mini vacation with his family.

She swallows and tears form in her eyes. "I love you too," she sends back. She then puts her phone down and hugs herself.

She replays in her mind the vacation, the laughter, the sunrise. She replays their first date, their sleepless night travel to make it to a wedding on time, their first time going to their now favorite restaurant.

She sniffs, trying to keep the tears from falling.

"I'm happy," she whispers to herself.

She shakes her head, judging herself for crying.

A song comes to her mind and she can't help but laugh at herself.

She's twenty-four and a Hannah Montana song comes to her brain.

She picks back up her phone and plays "One In A Million."

She hears the lines:

How did I get here? I turned around and there you were

I didn't think twice or rationalize 'cause somehow I knew

Those lines alone hit her in the heart. Somehow they did just know that they enjoyed each other's company. Everything was natural.

Their relationship fell into place. Their friendship bloomed into honest conversations and then a relationship that grew into love.

They were friends two years before becoming a couple.

She lets the tears fall as she hears the chorus:

They say that good things take time

But really great things happen in a blink of an eye

Thought the chances to meet somebody like you were a million to one

I can't believe it, oh-whoa

And it is hard for her to believe she's in a serious relationship. She could get hurt and she could hurt him. Having that capability scares her and comforts her at the same time. It's a real relationship and she doesn't want to lose him or this feeling. She hopes they'll last until they're old if it's meant to be.

She listens to the song, wiping her eyes and feeling thankful.
